The IWGP Handsome Championship is a title contested for in New Japan Pro Wrestling. While not technically an nL title, it is a title recognised and recorded by nL fans on Discord. Its sister title, the NEVER Handsomeweight Championship, was created on July 22nd, 2018, during the G1 Climax, and unified with it at Wrestle Kingdom 13. The current champion is Jay White in his first reign.
Background and Rules
The title was created due to a "Handsome Battle" between Kota Ibushi and Cody at Wrestle Kingdom 12. From there the title has been followed by several fans on the nL Discord server.
Rules for the Handsome Championship apply as so:
- The title can only be defended in singles or multi-man matches. Tag matches do not apply.
- The title can change hands via pinfall or submission.
- The title can also change hands on DQ or count out, as cheating and cowardice are considered un-handsome.
